Easy Karaoke Songs

When it comes to karaoke, it’s all about choosing the right song. A good song selection can be the difference between a standing ovation and the, err, “technical difficulties”. Here are some song suggestions to get you started off on the right foot.

Abba – Dancing Queen

Apart from being a classic that everyone knows, this song is also slow enough to keep up with (choosing a fast song is one of the most common karaoke mistakes), yet upbeat enough to get the crowd clapping and jiving!

Britney Spears – I Love Rock n Roll

This one’s ideal for the more daring types… Britney’s remake of this classic ensures a mix of easy lyrics, upbeat rhythm and almost always – crowd participation! For extra authenticity, dance on a bar table or swing around the nearest pole (watch out for tangled microphone cables!)!

The Proclaimers – 500 Miles

This one is for the gentlemen (or heavily intoxicated women). Apart from the easy lyrics that everyone’s sure to know and sing along to, this song has the tendency to get people stamping their feet and clapping their hands. A guitar prop will for this song will ensure that your performance is a memorable one.

Michael Jackson – Billie Jean

Another one for the gents – particularly those that have some form of dancing skill! Strut your stuff whilst remembering the late great, Michael Jackson. Be sure to point at some young ladies in the crowd whilst singing the “Billie Jean is not my lover” part of this song…

Celine Dion – All By Myself

This song is an ideal breaker after a string of high energy performances. Bring on the emotion, go all out and show the crowd how lonely and sad you feel. The simple, slow and steady lyrics of this song make it very easy to sing – show them your passion! Don’t forget the tissues.

Remember, the most important thing about choosing your karaoke song is to ensure that you are comfortable singing it. The only way to establish that is by
